Sons of Mikolajczck -> Glapa -> Raflik

Research into the early origans of the Polish State show that a primeval tribe which dates back to the beginning of Poland, ruled over the Slavish tribe. They lived around lake Goplo near the present city of Gniezno with it's capitol in Kruszwica. The tribe was called "Goplanie" (Goplans), "Glopeani" (The Glopeans) or "Glapianie" (The Glapians) or "Glapa" which means "Raven or Crow" in the great Poland dialect. They lived in the upper part of the river Warta and the middle river Prosa. The crest of Great Poland's nobility is "Slepowron" which can be translated to "Blind Crow".

Further research shows that in the eighteeth and nineteenth centuries persons living in the village of Konary with two surnames: Glapa and Geba. Geba is also a noble name, the crest is "Brochwicz". The surnames Raflik, means "Son of Rafal" and Roch Raflik who was the first to use Raflik as a surname was indeed the son of Rafal Glapa and Marianna Geba of Konary.

Rafal Glapa was the son of Kazimierz Mikolajczyk and Marianna Glapianka. Their five children used the surname Glapa. Kazimierz died when his family was very young and because surnames were just beginning to be established at that time, it is belived that his children were given the surname Glapa.

It is interesting to note that the Mikolajczyk surname also has noble origans. Their crest is, "Jastrzebiec"and looked very much like the "Slepowron" crest. The basic differnce is, Jastrzebiec pictures a hawk and Slepowron a raven.
